Why it's Wildland
3.6A late-Victorian Gothic Revival church whose banded stone tower and spire rise above the streets of Shepherds Bush.
St Simon’s is a distinctive piece of local Victorian architecture rather than a nature destination: its polychrome tower, spire and long-serving parish life give it a clear place in Shepherds Bush’s story.

St Simon’s is a Church of England parish church designed by Sir Arthur Blomfield in the Gothic Revival style. Construction began in 1879 and continued to 1886; the foundation stone was laid by John Derby Allcroft on 6 March 1878, and the first service was held in 1880. The chancel, parish hall and spire were completed in 1886. The church’s pipe organ dates from 1865 and was acquired from Dunblane Cathedral in 1893. Stained glass was installed in the east window in 1903 in memory of the first vicar, Robert Handcock.
